Denise
Houk was born in a small town in northern Minnesota called Thief River
Falls where she studied art in school and also with graphic artist and mentor, Keith Wheeler. After graduating high school she moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota to attend Minneapolis College of Art and
Design but due to the high costs and the meeting of other working artists, she left college to apprentice with other artists.
That lead her to many art and renaissance shows and numerous
adventures.
Guided by other artists and her surroundings she began to study
different forms of mysticism and reflecting what she found in her art.
Today she makes her home in northern California with
her husband and son. She works in many mediums but prefers acrylic painting and digital art and photography.
She strives to convey spiritual truths that are universal to all religions looking for
commonality instead of differences. Creating
internal visualizations externally to promote peace and unity.
